Buenos Aires, November 20 (NA) -- The National Executive Branch today officially enacted Decree of Necessity and Urgency 825/2025, amending the Law of Ministries, with a direct impact on the powers of the Ministry of the Interior, led by Diego Santilli, and the Ministry of Security, headed by Patricia Bullrich.
The decree is signed by President Javier Milei and all members of the national cabinet. According to the measure published in the Official Gazette, to which the Argentine News Agency had access, the Ministry of the Interior, under the charge of Diego Santilli, will assume new competencies linked to the control and certification of the identity of human persons, taking charge of the National Registry of Persons (RENAPER).
Additionally, it is granted functions in matters of relations with the National Legislative Power and the leadership of national sports policy.
Details of the reorganization with the Law of Ministries The decree replaces and repeals various subsections of article 16 and replaces articles 17 and 22 bis of Title V of Law 22.520, establishing that the Ministry of the Interior will be responsible for assisting the President in matters of internal political government, sports development policies, registration and identification of persons, and institutional coordination with provinces, municipalities, and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Among the new tasks are the organization and control of patriotic acts, anniversaries, and management of monuments, intervention in matters of interprovincial waters, and the development of policies for border areas and zones.
The Ministry will also intervene in the protection, inclusion, and defense of the rights of indigenous communities and will assume the allocation and control of resources, scholarships, and subsidies for sports.
For its part, the Ministry of Security receives the function of assisting the President in matters of internal security, preservation of rights and guarantees, migratory policy, direction, and coordination of the police and security forces at the national, provincial, and in the City of Buenos Aires levels.
In addition, it will coordinate actions in emergencies, border control, and application of the Fire Management Law, as well as migratory and asylum policies for foreigners.
The norm will come into effect today and will be reported to the Permanent Bicameral Commission of the Congress, as established by the Parliamentary Procedure Law for decrees of necessity and urgency.
